Colour co-ordinated safety

Although it started as a project to help Finland's Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres, the Vessel TRIAGE System (VTS) is going global and could be in the IAMSAR manual, published jointly by the IMO and the ICAO, in 2019. According to Captain Jori Nordstrom, VTS Project Leader specifically seconded to the Finnish Border Guard (FBG) from the Finnish Lifeboat Institution for this project, the system is a method for assessing and communicating the safety status of ships involved in maritime accidents or incidents.
