Russian simulator opens

IMO secretary-general Koji Sekimizu has inaugurated a Transas simulation complex for training tanker personnel at Russia's Makarov Training Centre. Part of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, the training centre is seen as Russia's leading high school for educating maritime and inland professionals. The new simulation complex will extend the centre's training portfolio by offering individual and crew training for tanker personnel, both cadets and seafarers, in compliance with the STCW Convention, SOLAS Chapter Ⅴ, and IMO model courses.
