Warning on hazards of carrying bauxite by vessel

New guidelines focusing on the dangers of shifting bauxite cargoes underline the importance of using seafarers as the first line of defence against vessel rolling that can lead to a capsized ship. The new guidance was issued through a circular published by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on 20 September. It was the end product of the fourth meeting of the IMO's Carriage of Cargoes and Containers subcommittee (CCC 4) held the previous week in London.
