ECSA attacks European Parliament emissions decision

The European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA) has reacted in exasperation to a European Parliament vote to put pressure on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) over shipping emission control. The ECSA called for the decision to be overturned before it enacted into law. Its sharp reaction was provoked by the adoption by the parliament's environment committee on 15 December 2016 of a report on the European Union's general emissions trading scheme, which includes a compromise covering shipping.
