After normal working hours, the chief engineer was on the bridge when he suddenly heard a noise that sounded as if an air or steam leak was coming from the funnel and saw a huge gush of steam coming from it.On further investigation, it was found to be coming from the exhaust gas boiler safety valve. The boiler was checked and was showing only 7.0 bar locally and on the remote pressure indication. As this is highly unlikely, the duty engineer tried to blow through the lines for the pressure switches and manometer and found the line blocked. Following this, the pressure on the boiler was 0.1 bar on the local manometer and remote indication.
