Alfa Laval's DuroShell plate-and-shell heat exchanger has been optimised for use as an liquified natural gas (LNG) vaporizer, to meet the rise in demand for ships relying on LNG fuel, while saving on space and cost. The heat exchanger can be used as an LNG vaporizer due to its high thermal efficiency and fatigue resistance. While being made completely out of stainless steel, it can handle LNG entry temperatures ranging from -170℃ and lower. The DuroShell has been subjected to rigorous laboratory freeze testing to confirm this. Furthermore, new research in glycol freezing means it can be used in more compact installations.
