The structure of HSE compliant First Aid at Work courses is set for major changes in relation to both their frequency and duration. This will have a big impact on all employers who will need to ensure that their in-house or 'bought in' training is fully up to date with the proposed changes. The proposals are contained in an industry wide HSE consultation document which involved all stakeholders with an interest in first aid training, from big voluntary societies to the many independent training organisations. The document outlines the proposed changes and will provide the basis for feedback and debate as the HSE starts to review and update its guidance for workplace first aid training. The HSE has not yet released details of the timescales expected to implement the proposed changes, but it is likely to be early 2006. Readers can keep up to date with the latest developments by visiting the HSE website where information will be published when available.
