Class act

The irish are fond of the saying that a good start is half the work and judging by his performance in his first few years in the job it is a motto the chief executive of Ireland's Health and Safety Authority seems to abide by. Tom Beegan is a man on a mission: to continue to up the performance of the HSA across the board and make it the most efficient health and safety organisation in Europe. He talks much the same talk as his counterparts at the HSE and HSC in the UK -partnership, prevention, management commitment, etc. are just as big buzzwords in Ireland - but he does so with such belief and positivity that it is difficult to doubt he will achieve his goals.
