In an article based on arguments he will put forward at the IOSH Conference public debate on 'Health and safety: red tape or green light?' Dr Richard North suggests that a deluge of directives from the European Union has caused the UK to lose sight of the principles of Lord Robens and the Health and Safety at Work Act, and dismisses those who have pledged to untangle red tape as being all mouth and no trousers.
