Energy giant Scottish Power has been fined £400,000 after a linesman was killed while working on overhead power lines. Airdrie Sheriff Court, sitting on 30 August, heard that Alan Ronald, an employee of SP Power Systems, a subsidiary of Scottish Power, had been carrying out corrosion monitoring work on overhead cables at a site at Gartness, near Airdrie, north Lanarkshire, on 16 December 2003.
