Musculoskeletal disorders among baggage handlers was the focus of a seminar organised by the Aviation and Aerospace Group in February. The event, held at Copthorne, near Catwick Airport, saw leading industry figures come together to discuss the findings of Health and Safety Laboratory research into reducing the risks from manual handling of passenger baggage. HSE's Sarah Tapley began by outlining the findings of the report, which was conducted at East Midlands Airport. She pointed out an integrated approach to the problem by airports, airlines, handling agencies, and regulators is needed to make change happen in the industry.
