An interesting thread on the IOSH public discussion forum caught my eye last month, in which participants discussed the current state of the health and safety jobs market and, particularly, whether 'traditional' H&S roles were disappearing in favour of more 'jack of all trades' requirements for environment, quality, and other skills on top. The general consensus among the commentators seemed to be that the employment situation is pretty bad and that practitioners, in response, must broaden their skillset in orderto meet employers' needs and have something extra to sell in this very competitive market.
