Council member awarded in Australia for exemplary contribution to industry

An IOSH council member and international working party chair has been rewarded for his contribution and commitment to health and safety.Malcolm Mclntyre, chair of the IOSH New Accession Countries Working Party, was honoured by Lend Lease at their Global Awards ceremony at the Sydney Opera House, in Australia, recently.A chartered fellow, Malcolm worked in health and safety for 37 years before retiring from Lend Lease in early 2012. He received the Jeremy Thornsbury Memorial Award, which is presented in the memory of a Lend Lease employee who was working on a project in Miami in 2008 when he was tragically killed in an accident.Malcolm said: "When I was advised I'd won the award I was shocked and honoured. I just try to do the job to the best of my abilities. Safety is personal because when it goes wrong there are many who suffer, and all I have tried to do is point people in the right direction."
