In preparation for a key House of Lords question on the Government's progress since the Bangladesh Rana Plaza disaster that claimed more than 1,100 workers lives, IOSH was pleased to provide a briefing to Baroness Young of Hornsey on health and safety in the fashion industry supply chain. We highlighted the need for real improvements to enforcement, training and infrastructure, as well as to supply chain management. We also outlined weaknesses in current corporate performance reporting and sustainability ratings criteria, promoting the use of meaningful and comparable metrics that cover supply chains. This drew from our recent submissions to the Financial Reporting Council on Strategic Reports and on Corporate Responsibility to the Department of Business Innovation and Skills.
