In early march the Military academy of air-space defence named after Marshall of Soviet Union G. K. Zhukov, located in the city of Tver, celebrated its 50th anniversary. Today, the academy is the only one in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation scientific-and-training institution, which trains officers and conductes research on the construction and maintenance of the Air and Missile Space Defence (AD and MSD). It makes possible to develop the implications of the theory of the Air-Space Defence (ASD) and to train systemic professionals in the field. On March 2 Commander-in-Chief of the Air Force Army General Vladimir Mikhailov on behalf of the Minister of Defence of Russia Anatoly Serdyukov held a ceremony to award the Academy with the Pennant of the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation for courage, military prowess and high military skills.
