A description of the AMK-03 automatic meteorological complex developed at the Institute of Monitoring of Climate and Ecological Systems, Russian Academy of Sciences (Siberian Division), is presented. The device measures the basic meteorological quantities, such as air temperature (-50-55℃) and the speed (0-40 m/s) and direction of the horizontal wind (0-360°), speed of a vertical wind component (-15-15 m/s), atmospheric pressure (560-800 mm Hg), and relative atmospheric moisture (5-100%). The complex includes an ultrasonic hot-wire anemometer, pressure and moisture sensor, control panel, power unit, meteorological tower, and set of connecting cables. The measured quantities are successively displayed on the control panel. The sampling rate of the sensors is 160 Hz; because of the high sensitivity of the hot-wire anemometer, turbulent fluctuations in temperature and thethree orthogonal components of the wind speed can also be recorded. With the use of a computer and associated software, the complex computes up to 60 numerical characteristics that may be used in the description and analysis of atmospheric turbulence.
