On the data of the regime-reference databank Actinometry, maintained by the Voeikov Main Geophysical Observatory, for separate actinometric stations in European Russia, Siberia, and the Far East, the aerosol optical thickness, τ_(a,λ_0), of the atmosphere is estimated on the basis of measurements of integral direct solar radiation. Statistical characteristics are determined of monthly and annual mean values of τ_(a,λ_0) for the period from 1976 to 2003; for Moscow, for 1955-2003. Aerosol turbidity valuesrnare compared at sites with different anthropogenic loading. Long-period variability of annual τ_(a,λ_0) and of their anomalies is considered, and linear trends in the time series of this quantity are estimated.
