摘要

Older downtown industrial buildings are being converted into live-work lofts in many cities across the country. This trend has taken a different twist in the lower downtown (LoDo) area of Denver with construction of an all-new six-story residential property that is framed with glulam beams, recalling the historic heavy timber construction that dominated the central core of the city 100 years ago. Called Ajax Lofts at Prospect Place Village, the project is part of the renaissance of an area most recently known primarily for its dusty parking lots and empty warehouses. Today, this downtown redevelopment is flourishing in the Central Platte River Valley, just west of the Colorado Rockies' Coors Field ballpark. A century ago, it was a neighborhood of Italian immigrants, adjacent to the busy railyards.
