Martin Franklin founded Franklin's Earthmoving Inc. in the early 1950s. In 1964, following the death of Mr. Franklin, Bill Bowen, the firm's accountant and estimator since 1957, purchased the company. Today, the company is being led by Bill's son Pat Bowen, vice president, and John Ellis, a long-time friend of Pat's. John runs the business end, handling scheduling, estimating and such, while Pat spends most of his time in the field, where the battle is won or lost. Pat joined the company full time in 1979, and John came on board in 1984 while a student at the University of New Mexico. In 1995, John assumed the duties of estimator and project manager and subsequently became a vice president of the firm as well.
