CRH Sells Asphalt, Upgrades Cement

CRH plc, has sold off six of the operations that came as part of the Ashland Paving and Construction acquisition from Oldcastle in August 2006. The six separate transactions of certain APAC contracting and asphalt activities in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia were worth about $215 million ($195 after taxes). In the 12 months endingjune 2006, sales from the disposed operations amounted to $520 million, with EBITDA of approximately $30 million before charging depreciation and amortization of $18 million. In the same period, these operations produced 6.7 million tons of asphalt using aggregate from external sources.
