Bacon, Boole, and Popper

摘要

Root (2003) offers a critique of USEPA science methodology based on an epistemological framework he attributes to Bacon and Boole. He concludes that the meta-analysis used by USEPA, and by extension, many others, relates to the forensic rather than the natural science tradition. I argue that in risk assessment this distinction is not material.
