It's a bumper intelligence section this month, touching on a wide range of professional issues close to the heart of any small practice - one issue in particular resonates with me. I once helped a couple of friends with their own firm to put together a design and access statement for a small, but we thought lovely, mixed-use retail/ residential project in east London. Having seen it successfully pass through planning under delegated powers, the fee that the firm put in to the client to carry out the detail design and construction was summarily rejected. Instead, the client went to another firm that undercut it substantially.
