Could the Mystery Man ('The Month', RIBAJ, July/August 2012) be Robert Wemyss Symonds, who designed the rather heavy façade of Saint Swithin's House in the City (now demolished) and wrote about clocks?Unfortunately I can't find an image of him. I've discounted quite a few other possibles but even this remains a shot in the dark.
