摘要

A ball‐throwing apparatus has been built to be used as an instrument for measuring the local momentum and density of a plasma in a rotating plasma device. Reasons are given for the choice of this technique and the critical design parameters are discussed. The necessary timing equipment and calculation method are given. The time of flight of a launched ball is known with an accuracy of ±0.15%.
