Microcomputer‐based image analysis system for quantitative area measurements

A microcomputer‐based video analyzer system has been developed to obtain area information from a variety of different sample types. Most programs are written in basic to analyze optical information with a conventional video camera and frame grabber. Intensity information from the image is used to automatically obtain area information, rather than the operator‐directed approach used in many digitizing systems. Real‐time operator modifications of the digitized image are possible, as well as image storage and retrieval and graphic display of the results.
