A Study on the Analysis Method of a Driver's Facial Expression as an Subjective Evaluation Tool

The following conclusions were obtained through this study of human facial expressions and emotions.rn1) We found that strong correlations can be recognized between part of the eyes and the variation of segments around the mouth. Particularly of note is the correlation between the differentiated values and the intensity of emotions. In addition, it was confirmed that facial segment expression was in accord with the AU parameter on "surprise state" in FACS by the experimental results using a driving simulator.rn2) By means of combining the human facial expression, the ratio of segments variations, the differentiated value and the integrated value, we can subjectively evaluate the human physiological state and emotions in detail.
