Prices rose handsomely in January due to weak receipts at scrap yards (because of inclement weather) and improving demand by domestic and Chinese steel mills for scrap metal.rnIndustry analysts are predicting an improved global steel market for 2010, with predictions of increased output ranging from about 11 percent to as high as 18 percent. This comes at a good time, given that 2009 global steel production declined by about eight percent and output in the U.S. declined by more than one-third.
