Packaging stakeholders met in early January in California to present on how they're helping the state recover more plastics as it aims to drastically cut packaging disposal and drive recycling activities. Organized by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) as part of the state's Manufacturers Challenge, the Jan. 5 meeting drew strong attendance from industry groups, Cynthia Dunn, the meeting's organizer, told Resource Recycling. "Almost all of the organizations we invited participated, and that's something we had hoped would happen regardless of what happens afterwards," said Dunn, a staffer in CalRecycle's Materials Management and Local Assistance Division.
