Industrial Research Institute's Annual R&D Trends Forecast

The gloomy outlook for industrial R&D that first appeared in 1991 is beginning to moderate. IRI's forecast of R&D trends for 1995 indicates that the percentage of respondents planning to increase R&D spending and to hire more new graduates is the highest since 1991. IRI's forecast also reveals that the top managements of U.S. companies will continue paying close attention to R&D. They will also continue their strong commitment to cooperative research through alliances and joint ventures.
