The current proposal relates to the simultaneous lay and plough burial of submarine power cables, subsea umbilicals and/or coiled line pipe, e.g. from shore or platforms to subsea production systems, from shore to platforms, between platforms, from shore to windmill fields, and/or between windmills. Lay and plough burial techniques have been used previously for the installation of submarine cables. The lay and plough methodology Is currently used in the telecoms Industry with a bollard pull of up to 100 tonnes. The lay speed and vessel rates are similar to surface lay with a suppressor, typically 15 km/day.
