CDMA Helps Lucent Score In PCS Business

This is the second installment of a five-part series on Lucent Technologies. This report examines Lucent's prospects for PCS infrastructure business. The first report appeared in the May 20,1996, issue of the Report On AT&T. The latest round of auctions for PCS spectrum recently wrapped up at the FCC. This C block auction, for designated entities - small businesses that have pledged to keep controlling interest in their businesses for 10 years - means that the business of infrastructure development is expected to take off to the tune of $500 billion. Lucent Technologies hopes to capitalize on infrastructure construction when the smaller providers start building their networks.
