Global investment in clean energy is heading for a drop at the end of 2012, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). The research firm's latest investment figures for Q3 2012 showed a total investment of US$56.6 billion, down 5% on Q2 and down 20% on Q3 last year. The total 2012 figure is likely to fall short of last year's record $280 billion, BNEF suggested. If it does, 2012 would be the first 'down year' for world investment in the clean energy sector for at least eight years.
