Equally incontestable is the exalted scholarly status of David Crystal, Professor of Linguistics at the University of Bangor, North Wales, series editor of Blackwell Publishing's The Language Library, and author of several other outstanding reference works such as The Stories of English (Crystal, 2004) and The Cambridge Encyclopedia of Language (Crystal, 1997) (RR 1997/359).
