The author's intention is to help family and local historians to overcome their reluctance to exploit these important and illuminating documents. The publisher Pen and Sword is deservedly well respected by family and local historians for producing clear and informative guides for nonprofessionals. This book is a reworking of the author's previous work Old Title Deeds and is based on his own extensive research. Whilst England, Wales and Ireland are covered, differences in land registration in Scotland mean that it falls outside the scope of this book.
