A new polymer containing carbazole derivative salt has been synthesized by the copolymerization of 3, 6-diformyl-N- hexylcarbazole with N,N'-(1,6-hexyl)bi(4-methyl-pyridinium) ditetraphenylborate. The second-order nonlinear optical coefficients of the corresponding spin-coated polymer film were determined by the Maker fringe method using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) after corona-poling. The d33 and d31 are 8.3 pm/V and 2.3 pm/V, respectively.
