A DEVASTATING fire has destroyed the station building at Troon on the line between Glasgow Central and Ayr. The fire, on July 17, spread rapidly on one of the hottest days of the year, causing extensive damage to the entire station building and one of the station canopies. It took the fire service several hours to bring the blaze under control and, thankfully, no one was injured. Following the fire, services through the station were suspended while the remains of the building were made safe, with replacement buses in use between Kilwinning and Ayr.
