Another Class 117 for the Main Line

PLANS HAVE been announced for another Class 117 DMU to be moved to Eastleigh Works for restoration to main line condition. The North Somerset Railway has said that its two-car unit, Driving Motor Brake 51371 and Driving Motor Second 51413, will move from Long Marston before the end of the year for overhaul and reinstatement to main line passenger running condition, with a view to being hired for railtours and contract work. It is hoped that the rebuild will be completed in time for the unit to enter service again during 2019.
