This month marks 30 years since the end of the Class 52 Westerns on British Rail. Interest in the type, the first diesel to gain 'cult status' since the end of steam, was at 'fever pitch' in the summer of 1975. Richard Davies recalls a week on a rover ticket trying to track down the remaining survivors.
