Get ready for the 2008 Railways Illustrated photographic competition!

As it enters its sixth year, Railways Illustrated is giving you more notice to be prepared for our annual photographic competition.As in previous years we want to encourage you to get out and about with your cameras to get the best in railway photography. We want to inspire everyone to take those top-drawer must-see shots of the ever-changing railway scene, and as summer is here, there's no better time to think about taking that 'top shot' that could be a prize-winning picture. The closing date is some way off - January 31 2009 - but don't leave it too late: not only must entries reach us by that date, but you'll be surprised how quickly time moves on. And of course, with such advance warning, you have plenty of time to try a shot and, if at first you don't get quite what you are looking for, then you've plenty of time to have another crack!
