Taff Vale 28 in restoration plan

A £10,000 appeal for the re-assembly and cosmetic restoration of one of the National Railway Museum's (NRM) 'forgotten' locos - Taff Vale Railway (TVR) '01' class 28 -has been launched by the Gwili Railway-based Gwili Vintage Carriage Group (GVCG). Out of public view, and in a dismantled condition since its last public appearance, at Cathays open day in 1991, the 1897-built 0-6-2T, is the last surviving Welsh-built standard-gauge steam loco.
