Spa Valley hit by slip

The Spa Valley Railway suffered an embankment slip close to Tunbridge Wells West on November 9, a Friday afternoon when trains were not running. It followed a period of sustained heavy rain and the slip is more than 100ft long, with part of the embankment slipping away from the track. It will require substantial repair works before trains can operate again. Society chairman Jon Nye says: "We have all read about embankment slips on other heritage lines, and you never expect it to happen to your line. This will potentially really knock us financially, especially as the winter period sees little income and we will now have to spend a considerable sum on repairs.
