One of Southeastern's Javelin EMUs is visiting the Old Dalby Test Track, near Melton Mowbray, to enable pantograph development work to be carried out in connection with the introduction of new IEP trains. Hitachi-built 395011 Katherine Grainger, has been fitted with the same type of Brecknell Willis pantograph that will be used on the new trains, which are also due to be constructed by Hitachi but at its new plant at Newton Aycliffe in County Durham. The 29-strong fleet of Class 395s are normally used on high speed services to the Kent Coast and were the first Japanese-built trains to operate in the UK.
