Switzerland's first-ever conversion from narrow gauge to Standard gauge - a unique challenge The Bulle project being carried out by the TPF (Transports Publics Fribourgeois / Freiburgische Verkehrsbetriebe) is the first-ever conversion of a narrow-gauge line to Standard gauge. The project is to be spread out over three phases: construction of a double-track section with a new access to the depot complex in Planchy, construction of a new Station in Bulle for both Standard and narrow-gauge trains and suitable for persons with disabilities and the complete rebuilding of the narrow-gauge railway line between Bulle and Nestlé's chocolate fac-tory in Broc as a standard-gauge one. Con-siderable innovative thinking has gone into providing an improved regional express (S-Bahn) Service as well as a sustainable freight-train Operation to Nestlé's chocolate factory.
