250 km/h ‘high speed metro’ proposed

Guangzhou's municipal government has proposed the construction of three 250 km/h 'high speed metro' lines as part of its recently approved 15-year plan to increase public transport's market share to 80%.The aim is to reduce journey times between the major cities in the Guangdong - Hong Kong -Macau Greater Bay Area to 60 min or less, through the development of a comprehensive urban rail network based on three levels of metro - normal, express and high speed.
