Vasttrafik selects Bombardier EMUs

Vasttrafik announced on March 23 that it had selected Bombardier Transportation as the winner of a SKr3.8bn contract to supply 40 three-car EMUs for regional passenger services. The Vastra Gotaland transport authority said it had sought a 'comfortable and reliable' EMU, offering a high capacity and able to operate at up to 200 km/h in the harsh local climate. The EMUs will have about 270 seats, wi-fi, a low-floor area and multi-purpose areas for wheelchairs, pushchairs and bicycles.
