A decision on financial aid to keep Transport for London services running was due as this issue of RAIL went to press. A short two-week extension to previous funding was in place, after the Department for Transport and the Mayor of London failed to agree a longer-term solution. TfL had asked for a £5.7 billion package to keep public transport services running for the next 18 months. In May, the Government granted TfL £1.6bn in emergency funding. That money has now been spent.
