The IRCA/UIC/ECMT "WIEN 2001" World Railway Congress held from 25 to 28 September 2001 at the Austria Center has broken all previous congress records in terms of the number, diversity and high profile of participants. The congress was attended by 768 delegates (40% more than in previous congresses) from 68 different countries, as usual from the five continents. We were also honoured by the presence of four ministers and some one hundred CEOs from railways and the supply industry.
