Themes of the ECMT Ministerial are important for rail freight in the new century, particularly with enlargement of the EU and our host country's integration into the Common Market: 1. Infrastructure investment and strategic planning across the whole continent; 2. Opening borders and removing barriers to trade; 3. Security; and the 4. Evolution of road user charges.
