DfT Rail announced on August 19 that it had agreed the changes to franchise agreements with Southeastern, First Capital Connect and Southern needed to implement the rolling stock and service changes to deliver Key Output 0 of the Thameslink programme. Coming into effect in March 2009, the changes centre on the 23 four-car Class 377 Bombardier ElectrostaT EMUs ordered by Southern in two batches but to be operated by FCC under the new timetable which will increase peak Thameslink frequency from eight to 15 trains an hour.
