In an interim management statement published on August 28, Stagecoach Group plc provided an update on trading since the end of its last financial year on April 30 2008 (RB1321 p1). In the 16 weeks to August 17 2008, like-for-like revenue growth at the UK Rail division was 9% and Stagecoach said it was 'encouraged by this positive trend'. The growth rate at UK Rail had been reduced by around 1°/o, due to the 'negative effect' of the withdrawal of SWT services to Brighton on December 9 2007. Other factors which affect revenue trends at SWT include 'engineering work, the timing of introducing new revenue protection measures and changes in fares, as well as economic factors such as reduced Central London employment', said Stagecoach.
